Sixty Year 8 students took on a challenge, they took a journey on the “road to RIAT” with the Blast Off event from the Smallpeice trust working with the RAF Charitable trust. This STEM day was a practical, educational , full-day event designed to spark curiosity and build confidence. This hands-on experience gave students the chance to explore real world challenges in air and space while imaging the future of flight and space exploration. Students were in groups and gave themselves roles such as Designers, Aerospace Engineers, Landing Gear Specialists and Marking Executives to plan a bold new planetary research expedition to a newly discovered world. Students worked through 4 key stages to create their final model lander.
Thank you Anthony from the Smallpeice trust for coming in and running this amazing STEM event for the students and thank you Mrs Elliott for organising this opportunity for students to take part in! The atmosphere was amazing and the students really enjoyed taking part in such a different day outside of their usual timetable! Well done all.
