Year 11 Support Overview for Parents and Carers

Dear Parent/Carer,

We hope your child has had a positive start to Year 11. We have been extremely impressed by the focus, maturity and commitment shown during students’ first week back.

As Year 11 is such an important year, we have a range of support opportunities in place to help every student achieve their full potential, these are outlined below:

After-school revision sessions
Regular after-school revision sessions will run from 3:00pm to 4:00pm and be delivered by subject specialists. All students are welcome to attend. If a teacher feels that a student would particularly benefit from attending, an invitation letter will be sent home shortly.

The timetable is as below:

Mastery Meetings and Tutor Tasks
On Wednesdays and Thursdays during tutor time, students will take part in Mastery Meetings and Tutor Tasks using their “Are You Year 11 Ready?” booklet. These sessions focus on revision techniques, exam preparation and strategies for success.

Targeted intervention programme

• Subject-specific intervention sessions will be delivered during pm tutor time offering additional support in Maths, English and Science.

• Small-group Maths and English sessions during Core PE and RS lessons for selected students.

Students involved in these programmes have already been identified and parents will have been informed where appropriate. Intervention groups will be reviewed as we go along as well as after each set of trial examinations.

• 24th September Welcome to Year 11 Evening – invite letter and more information to follow
• 12th October Trial 2 examinations begin (for 2 weeks – the week before and after October half term).
• 24th November Trial 2 Results assembly
• 30th November Trial 2 report card issued
• 10th December Year 11 Parents’ Evening – save the date

Knowledge Companions and online revision resources
All Year 11 students have received a Knowledge Companion containing key revision materials, including subject 100% sheets, a revision companion and their Prom Passport (see the video on our school website for more information on the 2026/2027 Prom Passport)

Students also have access to LearnEd, the Two Counties Trust revision platform, via their Office 365 account. The link is here: LINK
