Selston High School currently has limited vacancies in some of our year groups. We encourage all families to visit the school to see the excellent facilities and meet the Headteacher.

Applications for in-year places should be made directly to Selston High School, click here to complete the application form. You will usually be advised in writing whether a place can be offered within ten school days of making your application and at the very latest within fifteen school days.

As part of our duty of care we will then be in touch with your child’s previous school to ensure that we can meet their needs. If your application is successful, you will be given a start date (usually after a half term or term). Your child will then be supported in their transition into their new school.

Moving Schools – Advice For Families

I would like to thank you for considering Selston High School for your child’s choice of Secondary School for September 2024.

At Selston, we strive to demonstrate our 4 school values of Ambition, Teamwork, Honesty and Respect every single day to support our students to be the very best they can be and to lead a happy and successful life.

We are proud to serve the village of Selston and the local areas; we don’t take any application for granted and value the opportunity to work with you over the next 5 years.

We know that the transition from primary to secondary education can be daunting. Whilst some students are ready for the move and eager to start Year 7, others may require more support and guidance to feel comfortable and ready to learn.

We have agreed on 3 key dates that I hope you will add to your diary. These sessions are aimed to support families and students on their transition journey through to September 2024:

Key Dates

Thursday 5th October 2023. 6 pm. Open Evening. Join us to find out more about our school. Meet the staff and see our excellent facilities.

Thursday 13th June 2024. 6 pm. Transition Evening. During the evening, staff at Selston High School will have the opportunity to share the induction process with you in greater detail. The session will build on the information evening from October 2023. The event will also provide an invaluable opportunity for your child to meet some of the Year 7 staffing team, visit the school site once again and ask any questions that you might have.

Tuesday 2nd & Wednesday 3rd July 2024. In school transition days. These dates have been agreed upon with our Primary feeder school Headteachers. On these days, your child will attend Selston High School for the day and complete induction activities. Transition days are a great way of reassuring students and alleviating any worries or concerns that they might have pre-September 2023.
