We are delighted to inform you that we are planning an End-of-Year trip to Alton Towers for all Selston High School students on Friday 24th July 2026. This trip is a fantastic opportunity for students to celebrate their hard work and achievements throughout the year.

Details of the Trip
Destination: Alton Towers Theme Park
Date: Friday 24th July 2026
Year groups: Year 7-Year 10.
Cost: £40 (this includes transport and entry to the park)

Who can join us?
We want this trip to be a positive and rewarding experience for everyone. Students will be required to meet a few simple expectations throughout the 4 half terms from January to July in order to secure their place on the trip. Each student will be issued with a postcard (an example of this can be seen below) to keep in their Knowledge Companion, with the challenge of meeting certain criteria each half term. The vast majority of students do this consistently, so the added element of tracking their progress towards meeting the trip criteria brings an element of positive competition for all.

Once the criteria has been met for each half term, form tutors will issue a sticker for students to put onto their postcard as progress towards confirming their place on the trip. In each half term students can strive to achieve the following:

95% positive to negative ratio on Class Charts
We’d love this trip to be a celebration for students who consistently demonstrate our values of Ambition, Teamwork, Honesty and Respect, and a positive attitude throughout the year. Parents can track their child’s progress using the ClassCharts school app.

Achieve 10 ‘pledge’ points
Students can achieve these in a variety of ways, such as:
• Attending lunchtime or after school clubs
• Going ‘above and beyond’. For example, volunteering to litter pick during an unstructured time such as break or lunchtime
• Have two consecutive weeks with 100% attendance
• Borrow a library book
• Have one week with 0 negative points

Many other ways of achieving pledge points are detailed in students pledge booklets and further information can be found by clicking on the link https://www.selston.ttct.co.uk/culture/pledge/

No Suspensions
Any student receiving one suspension at any time between January and July will immediately forfeit their place on the trip.
The criteria reflects our commitment to celebrating students who consistently demonstrate our school values. Any student who meets the above criteria and achieves their sticker in 3 out of the 4 half terms will secure their place on the trip.

For any students who do not wish to attend the trip, school will remain open as normal and will take part in activities which we be provided by the school.

Payment and Consent:

If you would like your child to attend, please pay for the visit through ParentPay completing the consent information requested

Payment MUST be paid by FRIDAY 19th JUNE 2026

*Any students who have made payment but do not meet the above criteria will be fully refunded before the date of the trip.

Thank you for your continued support in making this a memorable experience for our students.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Head of Year or myself directly.
