Former Selston High School student, Luke Simpson has been widely praised as member of the team of pallbearers who carried the Queen’s coffin as millions around the world watched on.

The eight soldiers from the Queen’s Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, carried the Queen’s 500lb lead-lined coffin, draped in the Royal Standard, throughout her final journey, which ended at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on Monday.

Richard Dannatt, former Chief of the General Staff, said: “These young guardsmen deserve particular praise.”

As a school, we wish to share our admiration for all the young men many of whom only recently returned from active service who have served their country this weekend.

You have made the country, our community, your family and your friends all feel very proud.

Well Done
