Selston student plays table tennis on the international stage

Selston High School student Winston Hill has just returned from playing in an under-13 tournament in Riga, Latvia against other players from countries such as Denmark, Switzerland, Latvia, Finland and Ukraine. Winston relished the opportunity playing exceptionally well and won first place in the initial stage of the under-13 aged group. Although he was narrowly beaten in the match that would have seen him win a medal, he remained positive and went on to finish in 6th place.

Winston though saved his best table tennis for the under-16 aged group which he then also competed in. In what was viewed by many as the match of the tournament he was narrowly defeated finishing a very creditable 15th out of 36 competitors.

Throughout the event, Winston was praised for maintaining his concentration and playing in a sporting manner as he developed good relationships with competitors from across the world.

Well done, Winston!
