Dear Parent/Carer

Re: Options Evening 2022

I am writing to invite you to our Virtual Options Evening on Thursday 27 January 5-7pm.

This meeting will be held online and will be accessed through the school’s Microsoft Teams Software

Your child will be shortly added to the Year 8 Options Team and all meetings will be accessed through this Team.

More details concerning accessing these meetings will be shared next week.

The itinerary for the evening will be as follows:

5pm: Introduction to the Options Process. This should be attended by all students and their parents/carers.

5.20-7.00: Subject information Meetings. These will be scheduled within every subject channel within the Team.

Every subject will host 5 subject information meetings at 20 minute intervals: 5.20, 5.40, 6.00, 6.20 and 6.40. Please choose 5 subjects that you would like to attend for further information. All of the meetings will be the same for each subject. Please only attend a subject once.

If you would like to find out more information about other subjects then resources will be available within each subject channel for you to look at independently.

Your son/daughter will be receiving information, advice and guidance over the next few weeks to enable them to make the right choices for them.

We will be compiling electronic files to inform you about the options available for 2022 and these will be available to view via Teams and the school website.:

Printed copies of the options booklet will be available on request to bring home to support with them with making their choices.

All students also have a Xello account, an online careers platform. They will be shown how to use this via their enrichment lessons and this will support students choosing the appropriate options for the career or industry they would like to work in. Students can access this within school using their Office 365 accounts.

Unfortunately, our Careers advisor, Ms. Barratt, will not be able to join us but if you would like her to contact you for further guidance please email her direct on jemma.barrett@ttct.co.uk and she will get back to you on the days she works at Selston; which are Wednesdays and Thursdays.

If you need any further help or guidance with accessing the evening or materials please do not hesitate to contact us via our enquiries@selstonhigh.org.uk email

Your child’s tutor, Miss Rowland and myself look forward to supporting you and your child through this process.

Yours Sincerely

C Stone (Mrs)
Senior Assistant Headteacher
