Trampolining
Such is the popularity of Trampolining Selston High School both in lessons and as an after-school activity that we were able to enter two teams in the recent area championships held at Quarrydale Academy, Sutton. Both teams performed exceptionally well with students supporting each other and showing great skill. It was a tense moment when the final points totals were revealed before celebrations commenced as it was announced that our teams had finished first and second this year. Well done to all concerned!

Girls Cricket
Having won through to regional finals our Under 13 Girls cricket team relished the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of such legends as Larwood, Voce and Heyhoe-Flint
Their first game was against Nottingham High Girls School where they lost by only12 runs (64-52).
Their 2nd game was against another private school Nottingham High School where they lost by just 1 run! 😭
Their 3rd game they beat Outwood Valley by 11 runs!
Their last game they played Joseph Whitaker with a chance of still finishing 2nd. They restricted to them to just 32 runs (Freya got a hat trick) but again, we fell just short by 1 run!
It was a day of “what could have been” but the girls all performed amazingly well and were treated with a McDonald’s at the end of it! (We finished 4th out 5)

Football
March saw the much anticipated area 7-a-side Finals Night! To get to this stage the teams had already beaten 7 other schools in their pool to qualify
This year although the standard was high we took 3 teams, Year 7, 8 and 11, down to Joseph Whitaker for the finals.
Year 7’s played against Meden and went 1-0 down early on. Kayden got injured just after half time and despite battling throughout the 2nd half with just 6 players, they couldn’t find the equaliser. A great effort nonetheless!
Year 8’s played against Ashfield and were winning 1-0 until the dying moments when Ashfield equalised. It went straight to penalties and despite Bobby making some good saves, the boys lost on penalties!
However, later on, in their last ever tournament the Year 11’s played their final against Joseph Whitaker School. A dominant display from the beginning meant they ran out 5-0 winners! 🏆
This completes a fantastic run for our Senior Team having also won the tournament when they were in Year 7, Year 8 and Year 11.
This year they they also won the tournament without conceding a goal (in the qualifiers too)!
Thanks to all at #TeamSelston especially Mr Crow, Mr Lothian and Mr Belcher for their help!
