Performing Arts
Subject Leader Mrs A Pickering
Selston High School has a thriving and popular Performing Arts Department.
Our mission is to be an inspiring presence at the very heart of the school. As some schools are narrowing the curriculum, squeezing out creativity, self-expression, and performance.
During Key Stage 3, students study both music and drama for two hours a fortnight and are able to progress and have the opportunity to specialise in these subjects at Key Stage 4.
Our talented students perform in school productions and concerts as well as with local and regional theatre and musical groups and receive the full support of the school in pursuing their creative ambitions.
The department also supports a wide range of ensembles such as a Drama club, Choir, Drumming club and Individual instrumental tuition is also available for guitar, percussion, vocal, woodwind, brass, strings, keyboard, and piano through the Inspire Music Service.
