History
Subject Leader Mrs H Millward
The study of History allows students to understand the world as it is today. It helps us to explain who we are and how we got to where we are today.
In History students start with the unit ‘What is History?’ and then study a chronological curriculum from the Medieval Period in England and journey through time to the 21st Century. The History curriculum is a spiral curriculum studying the past chronologically and returning to key concepts and themes to build substantive and disciplinary knowledge. The Key Stage Three curriculum supports the GCSE curriculum which covers; Weimar Germany, Hitlers rise to power and the impact of the Second World War on Germany, Crime and Punishment through time, The USA from 1910-1929 and England in the 14th Century, including the impact of the Black Death. There are opportunities for enrichment such as; school trips and activities within school.
